Discover the world of research, innovation, and discovery.

Current high school students are invited to apply for the Da Vinci Scholars Program, a summer research experience at The Catholic University of America focused on engineering, science, computing, and innovation. Students will work directly with university faculty mentors, undergraduate researchers, and graduate students to explore real-world research questions and gain hands-on experience in a university research environment.

The Da Vinci Scholars Program is a flexible six-week summer experience designed for motivated students who are curious about how research and technology shape the world around us. Participants will join a faculty-led research group, learn the fundamentals of the research process, and develop technical, analytical, and communication skills through project-based work. Throughout the program, students will:

  • Work closely with faculty mentors and student researchers
  • Explore topics in engineering, physics, computing, and related STEM fields
  • Build problem-solving, teamwork, and presentation skills
What to Expect from the Program

Running from June 22 through July 31, 2026, the Da Vinci Scholars Program offers a flexible schedule that depends on each student’s assigned research lab and project. Some research groups may meet primarily in person, while others may incorporate remote or hybrid work depending on the nature of the research. All students will participate in a weekly cohort meeting on campus with program faculty and fellow scholars. Students are strongly encouraged to come to campus regularly throughout the week to engage with their research group, attend workshops, collaborate with peers, and fully experience university research life. By the end of the program, students will present their research experience and findings to faculty, peers, and family members.
